Welcome to my inner sanctum of creativity. My name is Mollie Blue Falkingham, a 3rd generation seamstress; I come from a long line of women who sew, craft, make and provoke inspiration in the next generation. My mother knits, my father is a joiner, his sister a bohemian hairdresser. My nana was a ballet dancer and seamstress of wedding dresses and prom gowns. The first thing she ever sewed me for Christmas was a black, purple and green ballerina tutu dress that I had requested after watching Sleeping Beauty on loop. Can you tell that the dark side claimed me before I knew what witchcraft was?
On my mothers side my great grandmother was a maker of haute couture fur coats and her daughter worked a few hours every month at the local army tailors. Sewing in all of its flavours is part of my family, the whole tree is creative from it's deep English roots to its budding blossoms. MY mission however is to share the power of beautifully made garments to the whole world, so our old stitching ways are never forgotten.
Maleficent was and still is my favourite Disney character, I always wanted to be her and felt heartbroken that she got killed by the bland prince and his insipid bride to be. Well, turning out to be Queer and Non-Binary with ADHD means I've been painted as villain in Modern Britain. If, however, you love creating with all your might and don't play by the rules, then please read on and find a space for you alongside me. I am looking forward to meeting all my Crafting Fae & Sewing Friends a like in future workshops, classes and one to one tuition.
A note of the blog name; Grimoire. A witch will usually document her experiments, sigils and spells in her 'Book of Magic', alternatively known as a Grimoire. I like to think of my making as it's own witchcraft, each garment I make a spell. This will also be the place where I host stitch-a-longs, announce new product drops and host paid and free sewing guides & sheets. Please follow the blog if you would like to learn and read more!
And remember, our motto; Out of Nothing to Everything; Ex Nihilo Ad Omnia!
